Dog Photography Experiences

Your Truffle Experience is tailored to you and your dog from start to finish.

Before we talk about sessions or artwork, it's worth understanding how it all begins.

Every Session Starts With a Plan

Great photographs don't happen by accident.

Before we ever pick up a camera, we talk.

Every session begins with a dedicated planning appointment, guided by a short questionnaire designed to clarify what really matters: your dog’s personality and needs, the style of images you’re drawn to, and how you’d like to enjoy them at home.

Many clients tell me this step alone helped them feel confident, prepared, and excited for their session.

What we'll cover in the planning appointment

Your dog — their temperament, quirks, and what helps them feel relaxed and at ease

The overall look — whether a studio setting or outdoors will suit them best, along with style, tone, and feel

The session itself — timing, location, and what to expect on the day so everything runs smoothly

Artwork — how you might like to enjoy your images at home, including size, format, and display options

"The entire experience was wonderful"
Ronnie from Truffle Photo created some beautiful images that perfectly captured the spark and utter cuteness of our Golden Retriever puppy. The entire experience was wonderful, and Ronnie was incredibly patient and playful while skillfully capturing shots in between our puppy's bursts of energy and short attention span..." - Terry & Tina

Before we starting shooting, your dog will have time to look around, take in the space, and settle in their own way.  It's absolutely fine if dogs are not trained - outdoor sessions are photographed with your dog safely on lead, and the lead will be edited out of final images.

Different dogs respond in different ways to the session - some are shy and cling to their owners, while others see the excitement in it all and bring their full exuberance into play. Some take a little time to relax, others are comfortable almost immediately. No matter how a dog behaves, I work patiently and calmly, giving dogs time to be themselves.

I always have a plan for the session, but use that only as a guide.  More importantly, I'm responding to what your dog needs, and what he/she is doing.  This approach allows the session to feel calm and unforced, while working towards the kind of images we've planned.

What a Dog Photo Session Feels Like

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering

How do we decide where to photograph my dog?

That’s something we’ll work out together during your planning appointment. Some dogs suit the studio, others are better outdoors. I’ll guide you based on your dog and the kind of images you’re drawn to.

Can I be in the photos too?

Absolutely! It’s a rare opportunity to be included in beautiful photographs with your dog.  And it doesn’t have to mean formal posing. Some clients choose to be in just one or two photos, or in compositions where the focus stays firmly on their pet.

What if my dog is nervous or not well trained?

That’s completely fine. Sessions are relaxed and shaped around your dog, with time to settle in and take breaks as needed. There’s no expectation for them to behave in a particular way.

When do I choose my images and artwork?

You’ll see your photographs after the session at a private viewing appointment, where I’ll help you choose what works best for your home.

What if I'm not sure what I want yet?

You don’t need to have it all figured out. That’s exactly what the planning stage is for — we’ll talk it through and shape something that perfect for you and your dog.
