Before we talk about sessions or artwork, it's worth understanding how it all begins.
Every Session Starts With a Plan
Great photographs don't happen by accident.
Before we ever pick up a camera, we talk.

For Signature and Outdoor sessions, this begins with a dedicated planning appointment, guided by a short questionnaire designed to clarify what really matters: your pet’s personality and needs, the style of images you’re drawn to, and how you’d like to enjoy them at home.

Many clients tell me this step alone helped them feel confident, prepared, and excited for their session.

Studio Sessions follow a more streamlined approach. You’ll receive a studio-specific questionnaire ahead of time, with the option to talk things through by phone, keeping the experience quick, focused, and easy, without losing the personal touch.

What we'll cover in the planning appointment
Your pet: Temperament, quirks, energy levels, and anything they need to feel at ease

The look & feel: Studio or outdoors, colour or black & white, classic or playful

Artwork: Portrait, landscape or both, display locations, sizing, and digital uses. Read more about the artwork range here.

The session plan: Timing, location, and what to expect on the day
The Pet Photography Experience that's Right for You
Choose from three pet photography experiences, carefully designed to match your pet's personality and your vision. From quick studio portraits to fully custom adventures, each pet photography session is focused on capturing the essence of your pet in a way you’ll love forever.

Before we starting shooting, your dog will have time to look around, take in the space, and settle in their own way. It's absolutely fine if dogs are not trained - outdoor sessions are photographed with your dog safely on lead, and the lead will be edited out of final images.
Different dogs respond in different ways to the session - some are shy and cling to their owners, while others see the excitement in it all and bring their full exuberance into play. Some take a little time to relax, others are comfortable almost immediately. No matter how a dog behaves, I work patiently and calmly, giving dogs time to be themselves.

I always have a plan for the session, but use that only as a guide. More importantly, I'm responding to what your dog needs, and what he/she is doing. This approach allows the session to feel calm and unforced, while working towards the kind of images we've planned.

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering
How do I choose between Studio, Outdoor, and Signature?

It comes down to how much time, variety, and flexibility you’d like.

-
Studio Sessions are short, focused, and ideal for clean, striking portraits.
-
Outdoor Sessions offer a guided outdoor experience with a smaller, curated selection of images. The shorter session time is particularly suitable for older pets, or when moving around locations is less than ideal.
-
Signature is a fully tailored experience with more time, locations, and a broader gallery.

If you’re unsure, we can talk it through. I’m always happy to help you choose what fits best.

Can I be in the photos too?
Absolutely! It’s a rare opportunity to be included in photographs you’ll genuinely want to keep. And it doesn’t have to mean formal posing. Some clients choose to be in just one or two photos, or in compositions where the focus stays firmly on their pet.

What if I’m feeling unsure or nervous about the process?

That’s completely normal. From planning through to your image reveal, you’ll be guided at every step. My role is to make the experience calm, clear, and enjoyable for you and your pet.
