Charlie
A beautiful Australian Cattle Dog x Border Collie with a big heart, a love of the beach, and a habit of making himself very much part of the family — in every sense.
There are some dogs you notice immediately, and Charlie is one of them.
With his distinctive colouring, athletic build and easy, watchful presence, he’s the kind of dog people stop for — and then linger.
Charlie will be seven this April.
He first came into Marianne and John’s home as a foster while recovering from heartworm… and never left.
Somewhere along the way, as often happens, the temporary became permanent. John and Marianne loved his temperament, and so he found his place, and they found theirs with him.
A foster fail, in the best possible sense.
Three years on, he’s a constant companion, gentle with the grandkids, always ready for an adventure.
He's clearly very well loved - John even cut holes in the gate for Charlie's nose and eyes, so he could watch anything that was happening outside.
His happy place is the beach — running, swimming, chasing a ball through the water — he's completely in his element. And you can be sure, he'll never, ever want to stop.
These photos were taken just before his seventh birthday — one moment in a life that’s already full, with plenty more still to come, including a lap around Australia with his family.
Charlie is the kind of dog who makes life feel fuller just by being in it.
